Paul Brooke

Paul Brooke:

Unmistakable wonky-eyed actor who often plays intelligence men, civil servants, shifty doctors and dodgy accountants. Most famous, apparently, for an uncharacteristic bare-chested bit-part in 'Return Of The Jedi', but you probably know him from 'Minder', 'Blott On The Landscape', 'Blackadder', or something in the 'Marple'/'Bergerac'/'Midsomer Murders' cosy crime strand. A class act.

As Malakili the Rancor keeper in 'Return Of The Jedi (1983),
in a poignant moment after Luke has killed his beloved monster
In the James Bond movie 'For Your Eyes Only' (1981)

  1. In the 1999 film, The Messenger (The story of Joan of Arc), actor Paul Brooke is the personal priest of young Joan of Arc, who hears her daily confessions. In the 2004 film Phantom of the Opera, Paul Brooke plays the auctioneer that auctions off LOT # 666 (in Paris in 1919), a glass chandelier (in pieces), which took part in the famous Paris Opera House disaster (around 1870). Paris was a disaster for Joan of Arc too. Joan of Arc is associated with the numbers 6, 66, and 666. Born on Jan 6. Held for ransom for 6 months in a 66 foot above ground prison cell (by the Burgundians). Wounded in the upper torso at Orleans by a arrow that penetrated 6 inches deep. She pulled it out herself.
